Happy again

No hiccups this time, but something else. lol.

glorious 57°!

Is t-shirt weather finally here? :)
With Nick finally over his sickness (flu-like symptoms for a week now), we were all able to take a walk around campus and just enjoy the sunshine. Baby K's pretty happy to get interaction again from his dad.

Excited!

Once on campus, we checked out the bookstore. We want to get the baby a hat, but they're all too big on him. (and looks like he's not too much of a fan of them just yet). heh.

nothing detracts from the munching

Can't wait for spring

Today's weather was a refreshing change (48F!). It was warm enough that we actually went out for a walk to enjoy the sunshine.

Squinting from the sunlight

Since it was so nice, we tried to visit the duck pond by the campus. Luckily the weather stayed warm for quite a few hours, so even with my bad navigation skills, we were able to make it.

Although, baby K was more interested in the people hanging out around the pond, rather than on the ducks themselves... oh well.

Distracted with the camera

scratches

I must be clipping his nails wrong. ugh. He seems to get worse scratches the more I clip 'em or he finds the one nail edge that just scrapes. Poor kid. So now he has to use mittens again.

Better mood

Here's a clip of the kid hanging out with Uncle Brian. He really enjoys Brian and Alia's company and cheers up whenever they visit. Unfortunately, they're moving out to AZ in the morning, so it'll be a while before we see them again.

anti-shots

Poor thing, was miserable for about 3 hours. Only yawning distracted from his crying... see his 'boo-boos' below.

Immunization day

Poor kiddo had to endure three separate shots today (1 poke on one thigh, 2 on the other) in keeping with the vaccination schedule. He cried out after each poke, but settled down after a few minutes. I was worried he'd keep crying since some shots can leave a throbbing pain - but maybe that'll come tomorrow... hopefully he'll be fine.

Dozing off once we got home

Trying to figure out the cellphone

My parents called earlier, and they really wanted to hear the kid, so I put them on speakerphone.

It's almost as if he recognizes the voices, but doesn't quite know how to respond since there really isn't a face he can associate it to.

hiccupy conversation

It seems he gets hiccups whenever he gets excited/happy.

Smiley - photo of the day

He'll smile for his dad, just not for the camera. hehe.

Hand sucking

He gets annoyed in the middle of it, but is fine once Nick moved him.
(I'm sick so I'm trying to avoid too much handling).

routine

I think we'll fare better tonight... he didn't take as many naps today. Yet he still seemed fairly content throughout the day. There were quite a few moments where he was OK just hanging out by himself.

We've been trying out a nightly routine (bath, story) for him to get him to get used to going to sleep at night. It's been working really well - the tough part is making sure he sleeps through. But I guess we shouldn't expect much yet, he's too young at this stage to go without food throughout the night.

He does enjoy baths though and actually starts to cry once we try to move him out of his tub.

PS: Thanks to Margie and Shane for the bathtub :).

aftermath

I started building this blog at around midnight and I still haven't gone to bed. Why? One, I got caught up on reminiscing and two, it's really pointless to try to sleep tonight. Since the baby took a looong 4 hour nap (and he was actually napping all morning too), he hasn't slept through at all tonight. He's been waking up every 30 minutes or so, crying sometimes for food, diaper changes, but mainly for attention (he really dislikes sleeping alone - since he's gotten used to sleeping with us for the past 8 weeks.)

I knew we were going to have to pay for this evening's peace and quiet...

Superbowl 42

Today (technically yesterday) was a historic day in Superbowl history. Why? Underdog NY Giants beat the regular-season undefeated team New England Patriots (17-14). We were hanging out at some friends' house to watch the game and the whole house was in sheer chaos during and after the game. And what was the baby doing the whole game? Sleeping. He was completely out, starting with the kickoff and all the way till the final seconds of the game clock (almost 4 hours!). He finally woke up after the Lombardi trophy was marched across the field to be handed to the winning team.

Snow village that is Park City

We drove up to Park City with our good friends Brian and Alia today. Due the storm that was coming in, we couldn't stay for very long, just a few hours. But we had fun checking out the outlet stores and historic downtown.

For dinner we decided to go to the Wasatch Brew Pub (they let kids in thankfully). Everyone was starving, including the baby (which was to be expected; he slept the whole time we were at the outlet stores). However, as we found out at the restaurant, that wasn't the only thing he needed...

The baby had a massive diaper blowout. His whole back was covered in yellow goo. FUN times.

The servers were very positive though throughout the whole experience. They even gave us a bag to pack his dirty clothes in. And no one complained even though the baby did have moments of fairly loud crying (when he woke up hungry, and then while we were changing him in the bathroom - walls were thin).

Overall though, he was very easy to travel with.

Tummy time

He enjoys laying on his tummy on top of us. I think it makes it easier for him to look around and still feel secure since we're holding him while he's moving around. On this day, he added attempts to suck on my shirt along with his routine. He's never done that prior to this day.
