spring training

The Papa's yearly Spring Training tradition brought the Papa brothers to our home to hang for a few days while they caught some Giants games.

We had fun hanging out w/ them. Kaylor loved having everyone's attention, although you probably can't tell from this picture. hahahah.

lemony goodness

We went to this yummy Greek restaurant to celebrate Brian's bday. And while we were waiting for our food, Kaylor amused us with his 'passion' for the lemon wedges.

Story behind the picture: stepladder

It's a 3-step process.
1. Pull the bottom drawer.
2. Climb the bottom drawer.
3. And since you can now reach it, turn off the TV even though everyone else is watching it.

Story behind the picture: beach buddies

We visited Silver Strand (state beach) while we were down in San Diego. Only one other family was there and they had one child who was very sociable (and gave us a glimpse of how Kaylor might be in the future assuming his personality stays the same). Kaylor wandered over to them to say hi, then the other kid asked our names and introduced himself. He shared his toy shovel with Kaylor and they played in the sand together.

strategy

We were at a brake place earlier to get the oil changed on the car. As we were waiting, Kaylor started playing with his sippy cup until it rolled away to the middle of the waiting area.

He looked up at me and pointed to his cup, essentially asking me to grab it for him. I said no, so he started to look around. He noticed another customer watching him and so he then looked back at her while pointing at the sippy cup. She asked if he wanted her to grab it. He clapped his hands in approval. But no dice for him, she wasn't about to help him out either ha ha.

He gave up afterwards and played with something else. Still not grabbing his sippy cup.

I imagine it's going to be a lifetime battle of wills with this child.

the human mind is an amazing thing

It always amazes me whenever Kaylor displays a growing interest in learning. Especially when I watch him try to comprehend what I'm saying.

He usually has no patience for books and would mainly just try to flip pages as fast as he can. Today though he brought his Alphabet picture book to me and started pointing away. He would then carefully watch my lips as I said what each picture represented.

it should be interesting to see when he actually figures out how to talk (using words other than daddy or light :P)

Suspicious

LOL.

UPDATE: I stand corrected. Nick's actual quote: "...it looked like he was STEALING the cup and was looking around to see if anyone could see him."

So basically, Nick thinks our child is stealing whereas I think he was hoping no one would steal from him. hahahah.

bird in the hand, worth two in the bush

A couple of nights ago we came home late after doing some grocery shopping. Figured Kaylor would be hungry so I opened up a new box of waffles and grabbed a couple to toast. When Kaylor noticed what I did, he immediately started pointing to the box. I tried to explain that food's coming (in the toaster), but we're just waiting.

He proceeded to pick up the opened package of waffles from its box and tried to hand it to me. Again I pointed to the toaster and said that we're waiting for those waffles. He looked at the toaster, and then at the bag in his hands. He then proceeded to shake the bag at me while rambling (to pull out some for him). He gave me a look of frustration that seemed to communicate, "why do I have to wait for those, when I have the whole bag right here?"

Why indeed. haha.
