he just goes along with it...

One of these days, he'll figure out what sorts of things we capture on film (well, really on the SD card, but you know what I mean).

But as of right now, he'll just go along with it.



(yeah, that's a sock on his head... but it's clean! We never returned it to Nick after we did the laundry since he likes playing with it.)

fuzzy animals

We went to Petsmart yesterday to look at the animals. It's free entertainment on a Saturday night; nothing can beat that. :)

Kaylor was so intrigued by the guinea pigs. He kept trying to lean towards the glass. At one point, he pressed his face against the glass and looked as if he was trying to kiss the guinea pig or as Nick added, eat the guinea pig (since you know, he tries to put everything he sees in his mouth).



You what the sad part is, Nick thought I was shoving Kaylor's face against the glass to make him get close to the animals and told me to repeat it for the camera. I kept trying to tell him, I had nothing to do with his actions, I was just holding him. He was the one instinctively going towards them. Seriously!

he LOVES peaches

We had to take video of this meal. It is amusing to see him want the food so much...

Oh and we now learned to take off his shirt during meals, because it's just too messy.

baby smash

I love the (free) Baby Smash app. It makes for a good distraction and also can be used as a training tool since speech can be enabled for the keys that a baby/toddler hits.

The features have gotten much better since I first downloaded it a couple of weeks ago, so the displays are much cleaner and more kid-friendly (IMO).

homemade mush

After reattempting homemade baby food again today, we've come to the conclusion that yesterday's (have I really lost all concept of time?) the other day's meal was pretty bad since it wasn't as smooth (pureed as it could be). Which is why Kaylor couldn't even finish a tablespoon.

Now we know our food processor is not up to the task, so we will use the blender from now on.

Today was much better, but much much messier.

xbox grip pad

We really aren't sure how a grip pad for the 360 controller ended up as Kaylor's elbow pad, but it did. And we got a kick out of it.

mmm carrots

This pretty much sums up how it went. ha ha.

But it's a better reaction than rice cereal (puked) and bananas (tried at all costs to avoid the spoon).

Action shots are so fun in that sometimes you can misconstrue what a person may be doing when a shot was taken.

Why crawl when you can do shortcuts to move faster

Seems the kiddo figured out how to do a real crawl today while we were in the midst of folding laundry. But it's not really his preferred method of movement as you can tell in the vid.

(oh and if you couldn't tell... that 'thwap' at the end of the clip, he smacked his head against the lens ha ha).

Nick was the unfortunate victim of ear-yanking today.


(to which Nick responded, "what are you doing taking pictures? Get him off me!) LOL.

Hey at least Kaylor's nails are clipped. And he didn't drool into the ears. :)

needy

Nick's pretty much decided that Kaylor's a mommy's boy. Whenever Kayl's hurt, angry, or tired, he'll reach out to me (or keep turning his head to look for me), even when Nick's holding him. It's a funny sight.

We've tried to test out his theory and it looks like it might be true. Case in point: Kaylor would be crying, so I'd hold him and then he'd calm down. Then Nick would take him and he'd start to cry again. What gives.

It's gotten to the point where I have to hide while we're doing scripture reading or praying so he'll stay in his crib and settle down.

Is this just a phase? :(

ok so we didn't miss out on much (4th of july)

I was searching youtube for a video of the Disneyland 4th of July fireworks show since we missed it last week, and looks like it was canceled 10 minutes into it. Looks like it was a good thing we left early. Happy child all around hehe.

4th of july

We were back at Disneyland for the holiday weekend.
We missed the fireworks since we had to head back to the hotel (it was already past Kaylor's bedtime and he was getting really cranky). Not that he cares though since he totally didn't pay any attention to previous fireworks shows. The only thing that kept his attention that night was the Electrical parade.

Maybe next year...

puke inducing rice cereal

Tried solids again.

We really think there's something about the flavor of rice cereal that just isn't appealing. We started out with mushed up 'real' rice and Kaylor didn't mind it. But after we swapped it out with rice cereal he started making faces.


Guess we're going to have to avoid store-bought food mush if we're going to get him used to solids. :P

sitting up

I'm still continually amazed how babies just figure out how to move and reach physical milestones.

So Kayl finally learned how to sit today. It's been nice for me since he'll stay in one spot for extended periods while he tests his balance and sees how he can get out of the sitting position without bonking his head.


...which the odds are more than he appreciates. lol.

Line upon line I guess.

babyproofing here we go

It's kinda funny how things change with a baby in the house. We no longer have the liberty of being sloppy (ha ha), since if it's on the floor or even against a wall, Kaylor's bound to find it and attempt to chew it.

First order of business was covering the wall outlets. I always thought that they are only risky once kids figured out that you can stick stuff in there, but in watching Kaylor, I realized he'll try to stick his fingers in there first.

Next stop, organizing the peripherals in the family room. We went to Ikea on Nick's birthday and looked for a good shelf to hold all the stuff.

And so far, it's been working (for now, we'll probably have to tackle it again once he's walking ha ha)... with all the loose cables up, he doesn't wander in that side of the room anymore.

Finally, today we had a fence installed around the pool. Despite the fairly high price tag, it just makes me feel better about the added security (drowning is the leading cause of death in children under 5 here). Kaylor's recently been intrigued about the yard and always ventures to the glass doors to stare at it...so it'll be good to know we have additional barriers out there.



I'm sure we have a lot more to set up in the next few months... Fun times. :)
