I found this video in an old memory card, and apparently I haven't archived it. Glad to have found it though since it gave a glimpse of Kaylor's future hamminess even at 12 months old.

poopy goodness
(Here's the expanded story of the twitter post earlier).
It was oddly quiet until 9am this morning. Usually Kaylor's up and yammering for breakfast before then. I thought it was odd, until I opened his door and got a whiff of something bad.
And what do I see? A very content, half naked child just chilling on his pig. Then I noticed the little brown pellets scattered along the mattress, with some stuck to his pig and blankets. As I moved his pig away, I realized that about half of the mattress cover had been smudged brown. Then in Kaylor's excitement of seeing me come in, he inadvertently stepped on another pellet and managed to stain his foot and another area of the sheet again.
The best part was seeing brown specks around his mouth. So... i can only imagine what kept him occupied. :)
On the upside, he now smells quite good after his bath... :)
For the future, we probably will have to make sure he's completely buttoned up for bed.

spring training

The Papa's yearly Spring Training tradition brought the Papa brothers to our home to hang for a few days while they caught some Giants games.
We had fun hanging out w/ them. Kaylor loved having everyone's attention, although you probably can't tell from this picture. hahahah.

lemony goodness
We went to this yummy Greek restaurant to celebrate Brian's bday. And while we were waiting for our food, Kaylor amused us with his 'passion' for the lemon wedges.

next level up
I think we've officially crossed over over from baby to toddler. Why? Because Kaylor has discovered the joy of sticking his finger up his nose.
An even bigger joy, sticking his finger up his dad's nose... (made even more awesome when his dad's not paying attention)

(these two were going at it for 5 minutes. Kaylor would not be deterred from his goal! :D)

by popular demand
Since family seemed to enjoy his antics on this vid, featuring it on the blog...
Balls, balls, everywhere.
Although, the novelty of it seemed to have worn off. Everytime he's in that crib now, he proceeds to chuck the balls out instead of keeping them in.

no pictures but... thought this was amusing.
Kaylor's appetite has been insatiable lately. When he finished his snack this afternoon (peas), he crawled while pushing the plate and then upon reaching me, picked it up and started yammering (mehmehmehmehmeh) away while waving the plate.
Figured it meant - "want a refill now!"
Sure enough, he got all excited when I added more food.

Year in review
To celebrate New Year's, here's a slideshow retrospective of Kaylor's most random expressions from his first year.
PS:
I probably missed a few fun ones...just leave a message and I'll add it in.

Go Sharks
We went to a Sharks game to end off the holiday weekend. It was the first time that Kaylor really seemed to enjoy himself at a sporting event. He even got into the festivities by cheering along with the crowd, although it was, to his dad's dismay, typically for the Coyotes (since he was going with the crowd), instead of for the Sharks. Brian eventually got him to cheer for the Sharks too.

It's shaping up to be a festive day
After last night, we're all a little tired here.
But craziness continues...
It's funny how he fights to escape (and does) when I try to button up his onesie after changing 'another' poopy diaper. Then after I'm all done, he crawls back.
It's funny when he tries to reach for things on your computer desk like your phone, water cup, camera, then pulls them off so they drop.
It's funny when he picks up your fallen phone then proceeds to smash it against a glass plate meant for his cheerios snack. (yes, yes, we're lacking in baby-friendly feeding supplies)
It's funny because even after all that, you can't help but be amused when you're greeted by this:

(by the way his dad apparently dislikes this picture because he "looks like a girl with those shining eyes and lashes." hahaha. But I'm posting it anyway, because it made me smile. so there.)

rice crackers
Kaylor found Nick's stash of norimaki rice crackers (crackers wrapped in seaweed) earlier today. He seemed to really enjoy them, so I let him keep eating them.

It was all good and dandy until the nori wrappers started getting all gooey, and that's when Kaylor realized, "wow, these things stick to the wall and make cool designs."
(thanks Papa & Judi for the crackers. All of us love em :D).

officially inducted into fatherhood?
For 9 months, Nick's been the lucky recipient of only one aspect of Kaylor's bodily fluids (puke). Somehow his reflexes have generally helped him avoid getting peed or pooped on...
Yesterday his streak ended.
As fate would have it, Kaylor had a blow-out right before church yesterday, and Nick's white shirt is now stained green. :)
Fun fun.

it burns
One of Nick's MBA buddies came and saw us on Friday, just in time for dinner. And where do we take him? Of course, Nick's favorite BBQ place.
This place usually gives you a side of cheese bread, but the night's offering was jalapeño bread. Obviously, Kaylor wanted some, but we never expected him to try putting the whole slice in his mouth.
And what luck. He managed to get a bite where there was a jalapeño piece. He cried for a second, and after a chug of some water, he went on his merry way, trying to shove more bread in. *sigh*.
At least we know he's not allergic to jalapeños. :)

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery
Or is it monkey see, monkey do? :)
Lately, imitating is all what Kaylor does. Although, he seems to interpret things in a funnier way than we expect...
(In the video, Nick makes a face at him, and this is how he reacts.)

behind on the growth spurt
We hung out with Brian and Alia this weekend. It was fun to chill at their house and check out some of the local sights and sounds.
Alia had been talking about one of her friend's babies who seemed to be bigger than Kaylor. So when their friends came over for BBQ on Saturday, we had to do a side-by-side to see how the two matched up.
Yikes. We definitely have a little one. hahah.

5+ month old Ryan on left, Kaylor (9 mos tomorrow) on right.
