big brother

We haven't really been sure how Kaylor would react to having a baby around. We weren't sure if he'd transition ok to having to share our attention with another little person.

His first reaction was priceless. Nick introduced him to the baby (while I was still holding her) and asked if he liked the baby. He screamed "No!" and ran off. Same reaction when he was asked whether he wants to keep the baby... He seemed confused. So Nick picked her up and showed him the baby up close. Nick changed the question to, "Do you want to kiss the baby."

Kaylor's affectionate side definitely won out :).

Since then he can't stop peeking at her. Unfortunately he thinks poking her in her sleep will get her to interact. We're still trying to make him understand that doing that will just trigger a miserable reaction from her.

We asked him again today if he wants to keep the baby. It's definitely a Yes now.

PS:
The only thing that bothers him is that I take more pictures of her than him. So he tries to sneak in the pictures. :)

And sibling aggravation begins:

and now there are two

When I had my 39 week appointment on Thursday morning, my doc said I was already dilated to 3. She offered to strip the membranes to get labor going if I wanted to - but since our project at work still hasn't officially finished, I told her I wanted to just wait. :)

Guess the intervention wasn't necessary anyway. I started having contractions after I got back to work. Not painful but they became more and more regular as the hours passed. I called Nick to tell him tonight might be it so he better get home from work early. :)

At around 7pm, I started timing the contractions and they were consistently coming in at 2,3, and 5 minutes apart. So we figured we should probably visit the hospital; they can always just make us go home. :)

At 7:45, we got to the check-in desk and I was sent in for triage. After getting checked by the nurse, we were admitted. Apparently when you are dilated at minimum to a 4, they don't let you go home. At 9:20, the doc manually broke my water to help speed things along. At around 1am, I was still just at 6, then an at 2am, apparently it just jumped to 10. :)

10 mins of pushing later, Kaia was born. 6 lbs 7oz and 19 inches long. She beat out her bro in both height and weight.

new addition to the family

No, no baby sis yet. haha.

But we did get Kaylor a teddy bear hamster over the weekend - Nick really wanted to name him Gir but Kaylor couldn't really say that, so we settled on Dib (Invader Zim in case you're curious where the two names came from).

too excited, but too tired

Nick had to go on a week long business trip last February. Kaylor missed him a lot and when he found out we were picking up his dad at the airport, he became really happy.

Unfortunately, it was right around his nap time so he tried so hard to stay awake while waiting.

Easter festivities

First off, egg dyeing:
He had more fun once we gave up on making him use the spoons to dip the eggs though. Although, he got a little annoyed when he noticed his green hands. hehe.

Egg hunt
The fun started after he grabbed all the eggs and realized each egg had candy. Big smiles!

jumpin jumpin

It's funny how just a couple hours of playing with some older boys turned Kaylor's fear of trampolines into addiction.

shenanigans

Gotta love this stage in Kaylor's life. He's a lot more curious and mischievous.

Lately he's been really enjoying turning light switches on and off. He usually just focuses on one light switch though. However a few weeks ago, he decided to shut off all the switches in the first floor while Nick was working on his computer. It was pitch dark and Nick didn't realize it until after Kaylor was done with all the switches. :)

A few days ago, Nick was working on the backyard. Apparently, Kaylor figured out how to lock the sliding door to the backyard... (we didn't know). And all our other doors were locked, so... Nick ended up pounding our front door wanting to get in.

Not everything goes against Nick though.

Last weekend, Kaylor was eating some Spanish rice (he loves it) and was drinking water out of a regular cup. At about the end of his meal, he decided to add some rice granules in his cup, and then took a sip. Not too bad.

He looked at his cup then his bowl of rice, then he proceeded to dump the water into the bowl. He took a huge spoonful of the rice excitedly. He ended up gagging since it tasted horrible. LOL. At least now he knows :).

baby #2

Yes, baby #2 is on the way!
We also found out if Kaylor will have a baby sis or bro.

And it's a....

Can't say we were too surprised. This pregnancy has been the complete opposite vs. when we were having Kaylor.

Morning sickness (actually more like all day sickness), unbalanced bones, crying during commercials (YIKES!). I think I like the hormones from boys better :P.

for the aunties

Christmas

(very very late post. Sorry for the horrible delay!)

We had a blast visiting family during Christmas. Kaylor LOVED hanging out with his grandma and auntie. We also enjoyed stopping by the Bay area to visit more relatives. Kaylor loved seeing everyone.

Thanks to everyone for his presents as well. He's still playing with all of them to this day :).
