two-minute distraction

He just loves pulling books off the shelf. I'm just happy he doesn't try to rip the pages apart after he's done...

officially inducted into fatherhood?

For 9 months, Nick's been the lucky recipient of only one aspect of Kaylor's bodily fluids (puke). Somehow his reflexes have generally helped him avoid getting peed or pooped on...

Yesterday his streak ended.

As fate would have it, Kaylor had a blow-out right before church yesterday, and Nick's white shirt is now stained green. :)

Fun fun.

outvoted

Pizza toppings. Nick and I usually struggle to find toppings that work for both of us, since I'm picky with certain veggies and he's picky with sweet flavors :).

"What do you mean I can't add pineapple to bbq chicken?"

Looks like with Kaylor in the mix, I may never get an order of hawaiian in... We ordered some pizza a few days ago and Kaylor wholeheartedly gobbled up the green peppers, onions, and mushrooms without even a grimace (and no reactions! whoo-hoo!). And he was quick to ask for more.

it burns

One of Nick's MBA buddies came and saw us on Friday, just in time for dinner. And where do we take him? Of course, Nick's favorite BBQ place.

This place usually gives you a side of cheese bread, but the night's offering was jalapeño bread. Obviously, Kaylor wanted some, but we never expected him to try putting the whole slice in his mouth.

And what luck. He managed to get a bite where there was a jalapeño piece. He cried for a second, and after a chug of some water, he went on his merry way, trying to shove more bread in. *sigh*.

At least we know he's not allergic to jalapeños. :)

Back!

This weekend Kaylor spent some time with his Grandma, since we took off with Brian and Alia to Disneyland.

It was great to go, but we definitely missed him...

For it's one, two, three strikes, you're out,

We had sooo much fun at the last game, we decided to go again tonight (well, really can't pass up a good deal: all-you-can-eat section for $20 a person - unlimited hotdogs, nachos, peanuts, soda/water).

It still sucked having the whole stadium cheering against you though. haha.

On the upside, Kaylor had fun hanging out in the Sandlot, where the little kids can play.

Rooting for the visiting team

Since Nick loves loves baseball games especially Giants games (even though they kinda suck this year haha) he tries to get tickets so we can see them live.

Yesterday happened to be one of those days. Unfortunately since we were cheering on the opposing (underdog) team, it felt pretty lonely having practically the whole stadium cheering against you.

And as we've found out, it seems the other Giants fans felt the same way. Kaylor and I were walking around the stadium to get some munchies when his hat fell to the ground. The lady who picked it up for us got really excited. She said that it was so cute that Kaylor was all dressed up in SF gear, so much so, that she had to take a picture of him with her camera phone. I imagine it must have been refreshing to finally see some orange in the mass wave of reds :).

So there's a lady somewhere out there with our child's picture on her phone. Go Giants! hahaha.

Too bad Nick wasn't there. They were Kings fans too. :)

(let's hope they score better tomorrow...)

our child does not exist

...as Evan told Nick earlier.

After our doc visit yesterday, the stats for Kaylor are pretty abysmal. 7% on height, 0% on weight.

That's right - 0%. He gained a paltry 10oz in 3 months. I can only hope, as my friend suggested, that he has good metabolism so he just burns through calories.

There is no moment where he's not moving though. Even in his sleep he spins...

At least his head's getting bigger and meeting his milestones, so the doc's not too worried yet.

Oi.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery

Or is it monkey see, monkey do? :)

Lately, imitating is all what Kaylor does. Although, he seems to interpret things in a funnier way than we expect...

(In the video, Nick makes a face at him, and this is how he reacts.)

behind on the growth spurt

We hung out with Brian and Alia this weekend. It was fun to chill at their house and check out some of the local sights and sounds.

Alia had been talking about one of her friend's babies who seemed to be bigger than Kaylor. So when their friends came over for BBQ on Saturday, we had to do a side-by-side to see how the two matched up.

Yikes. We definitely have a little one. hahah.

Cranky

And now we know why he's been very very cranky this whole week. He's teething.

The tooth's just barely broken past the gum line. Not much fun.

sneaky

Mealtimes have started getting interesting lately with Kaylor wanting to eat whatever we're eating. This is all fine when we're having pasta or rice, but not when whatever we have isn't bite-sized for his consumption. Unfortunately, his impatience usually leads him to resort to getting in our faces and/or grabbing our food right off the plate.

The most recent episode happened when we were eating a bowl of grapes. He was not content to wait for us to give him edible pieces (i.e. w/o the skin off, since he still has no teeth to chew with). So any chance he got, he'd try to swipe a handful and shove them in his mouth, kind of like my old hamster used to do heheh. (and it also reminded me of the chubby bunny game that Nick did quite a bit with his friends in college).

Ay. We really don't condone this behavior, especially since it's a choking risk, but his expressions when he has grapes in his mouth are pretty funny. So we had to take some pics before officially banning him from touching the fruit bowl.
