1st birthday

We went to Disneyland to celebrate Kaylor's birthday.

Some highlights:
It was amazing to see how he's more attentive and interactive now. Like for example, on the Winnie the Pooh ride, he previously only reacted to the neon colored room, but now he noticed the wind slightly blowing and the animatronics in every corner as they spoke.

He loved watching the fireworks and even started to dance (well, bounce up and down) when the nutcracker suite (Russian dance) started to play.

He readily sat on Santa's lap and was very curious about his long white beard. He didn't hesitate to pull it right away. :)

Nick introduced him to sugar by letting him eat a cupcake even before his 'official' birthday cake arrived, and then by letting him discover gummy worms.

From all the smiles and laughs, it looks like he had a blast.

Go Sharks

We went to a Sharks game to end off the holiday weekend. It was the first time that Kaylor really seemed to enjoy himself at a sporting event. He even got into the festivities by cheering along with the crowd, although it was, to his dad's dismay, typically for the Coyotes (since he was going with the crowd), instead of for the Sharks. Brian eventually got him to cheer for the Sharks too.

Start of the holiday traditions

It's been a family tradition to have Nick shop on Black Friday and this year was no different. He brought Brian along as his shopping buddy while the rest of us slept in.

He found a fun walker (which then converts to a wagon) and Kaylor's been attached to it since.

It's a good thing that most of our house is carpeted because it actually slows the wheels down so Kaylor can walk with it at a good pace. It slides a little too fast on tile as we've found out. (I'm surprised fisher price didn't try to implement some sort of friction setting on it...)

With thanksgiving officially over, next stop was to pull out our tree and start decorating it. Although I think we're going to have to rethink how we get Kaylor involved next year. During the process of putting the tree together and decorating it, he's managed to topple the tree and smash an ornament (and no, he didn't get any shards on him :D). He loved the tinsel and would not let it go.

first thanksgiving

Brian and Alia hung out with us for the thanksgiving holiday. We all had a blast.

Here's Kaylor chowing down on his first thanksgiving meal.

*on a side note, this turkey recipe was excellent. Turkey ended up quite juicy even though it wasn't in brine beforehand (we didn't have the equipment).

holy war bbq

We visited Brian and Alia this weekend so we can join in their "Holy War" barbecue party. It's just that time of year when BYU faces off with rival University of Utah.

Here's the pre-game setup:

Kaylor seemed more interested in other things though...
